These updates were provided during a review of the advancements made by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department over the last two years under the ruling BJP government.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has initiated a focused review meeting across all departments, which will wrap up on Tuesday. Subsequently, the Council of Ministers will deliberate on setting new objectives for the upcoming three years in Khajuraho.
The review addressed various aspects of the Food, Civil Supply, and Consumer Protection sectors, particularly examining the public distribution system, procurement methods, technological advancements, and preparations for Simhastha 2028, as stated by the government.
During the assembly, CM Yadav emphasized the need to ensure timely and efficient distribution of food grains to every eligible recipient. He highlighted the welfare of impoverished households, laborers, and farmers as a primary concern.
The government reported that an extensive campaign for e-KYC and accurate targeting was executed, resulting in the removal of over 34 lakh ineligible beneficiaries after phased verification.
This initiative allowed approximately 14 lakh beneficiaries from the waiting list to receive new eligibility slips and start receiving complimentary food grains.
Moreover, under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, women beneficiaries have been provided with 616.97 lakh LPG refills over two years, amounting to a total subsidy of Rs 911.32 crore.
The government stated, "In the last two years, the department has implemented several innovative measures, including SMS notifications at every stage of stock movement and distribution, ensuring beneficiaries are informed when rations arrive and are dispensed from fair price shops."
