Bhopal, April 12 (NationPress) In a remarkable move to pay tribute to B.R. Ambedkar, the esteemed architect of the Indian Constitution, the government of Madhya Pradesh has announced the establishment of a new wildlife sanctuary in his name.

On April 14, the nation will commemorate the birth anniversary of this iconic Indian leader.

B.R. Ambedkar was born in Mhow, now referred to as Ambedkar Nagar, in Madhya Pradesh.

This newly inaugurated sanctuary represents the 25th wildlife sanctuary in the state, encompassing an extensive area of 258.64 square km in the Sagar district.

According to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, "A proper tribute has been rendered to Baba Saheb with the issuance of a notification designating the 258.64 square km reserved area in Sagar district as the 'Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sanctuary'. This sanctuary will serve as a secure habitat for wildlife, promoting ecological balance, enhancing tourism, and creating new job opportunities for local residents. This initiative reflects our respect for nature, admiration for the Constitution's architect, and dedication to inclusive development."

The sanctuary, now officially known as the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sanctuary, spans the reserved forest land within the North Sagar Forest Division, including the Banda Tehsil and Shahgarh forest areas.

Under the jurisdiction of the North Sagar Forest Circle, this protected area is intended to safeguard biodiversity, reinforce the ecological food chain, and stimulate tourism, thereby providing employment opportunities for local communities.

Scheduled to be inaugurated ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti in 2025, this sanctuary reflects Madhya Pradesh's commitment to honoring historical figures while preserving its natural heritage.

The Forest Department has detailed this initiative in a recent notification, emphasizing its objectives for wildlife conservation and sustainable eco-tourism.

Madhya Pradesh is celebrated for its diverse wildlife sanctuaries and tiger reserves, including the Kanha Tiger Reserve in Balaghat and Mandla, Pench Tiger Reserve spanning Seoni and Chhindwara, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Umaria, Satpura Tiger Reserve in Narmadapuram, and Panna Tiger Reserve in the Bundelkhand region, among others.

The newly established sanctuary dedicated to B.R. Ambedkar enriches this impressive array, providing yet another destination for wildlife lovers and conservationists.
