Bhopal, Sep 26 (NationPress) Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has unveiled an ambitious strategy for Madhya Pradesh, targeting a remarkable 16 percent growth across all sectors while introducing groundbreaking urban and housing initiatives.

During a prominent urban transformation event, the 'Urban Transformation Summit 2025' in Bhopal, Dr Yadav presented plans to double the state’s budget within five years, stating, “In the economy of every state, GDP growth plays a significant role. Over the next five years, we aim to double our budget size, positioning us for a near 16 percent growth in all sectors,” he remarked.

He highlighted the importance of interconnected urban hubs and substantial infrastructure investments to boost growth and improve the living conditions of residents.

A central aspect of this vision involves the development of twin cities centered around Indore and Bhopal. The Indore cluster will incorporate Ujjain, Dewas, Maxi, Dhar, Sonkuchh, and Ashta, enhancing connectivity through improved transport corridors, shared economic zones, and cohesive urban planning, as stated by the CM.

This hub aims to strengthen Indore’s commercial influence while safeguarding Ujjain’s cultural legacy.

Conversely, the Bhopal cluster will connect Narmadapuram, Raisen, Vidisha, and Sehore, utilizing the capital’s administrative power to fuel sustainable growth.

Plans also extend to Gwalior and Jabalpur, with industrial townships designed to mitigate illegal settlements and enhance commercial viability, the chief minister further explained.

“This initiative transcends mere infrastructure; it’s about revitalizing our cities,” Dr Yadav proclaimed to an audience of urban planners and developers.

The state’s housing sector is on the verge of a historic leap, with 8.56 lakh residences already built, and nearly 7.75 lakh housing units allocated to women, alongside plans for 10 lakh new affordable homes expected to draw Rs 50,000 crore investment.

With Rs 5,875 crore dedicated to 297 water supply projects, Rs 3,450 crore for 224 additional initiatives, Rs 4,932 crore for 36 sewage projects, and four projects costing Rs 1,312 crore for urban development, these efforts prioritize marginalized communities, eco-friendly designs, and smart amenities like solar grids and digital governance.

Experts praise the twin cities model, forecasting a 40 percent reduction in travel times and a 25 percent boost to GDP over the next decade.

Despite hurdles such as land acquisition and environmental issues, the government commits to transparent consultations and technology-driven oversight. As Madhya Pradesh approaches its 75th anniversary of statehood next year, Dr Yadav's announcement symbolizes a pledge to 'Viksit Madhya Pradesh' – a developed, inclusive heartland.

I see the announcement by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav as a significant stride towards economic transformation in Madhya Pradesh. The ambitious growth targets and urban development plans reflect a commitment to inclusive progress, but the state must navigate challenges to ensure these goals are met transparently and sustainably.
