New Delhi, Sep 26 (NationPress) The Hockey India Senior Women Inter-Department National Championship 2025 is kicking off this Saturday at Shivaji Stadium. This exciting tournament will see 12 teams competing in four pools, running until October 4.
In Pool A, participants include Railway Sports Promotion Board, Tamil Nadu Police, and Central Civil Services Cultural & Sports. Pool B consists of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Central Reserve Police Force, and Sports Authority of Gujarat – Hockey Academy.
Meanwhile, Pool C features the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Sashastra Seema Bal, and UCO Bank Women’s Hockey Academy. Finally, Pool D includes Sports Authority of India, Union Bank of India, and Services Sports Control Board.
Throughout the league stage, each team will face off against the others in their pool, with the top team from each pool progressing to the semifinals on October 3, leading to the Final and 3rd/4th place match on October 4.
The tournament will commence with a match between Sports Authority of India and Services Sports Control Board. The day will also feature matches between Central Board of Direct Taxes and UCO Bank Women’s Hockey Academy, Railway Sports Promotion Board against Central Civil Services Cultural & Sports, and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. meeting Sports Authority of Gujarat – Hockey Academy.
Before the Championship, Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey stated, “The Inter-Department National Championships have established themselves as a vital aspect of our calendar, allowing players to showcase their skills. Many top players emerge from this platform, and it’s thrilling to witness young talents competing alongside seasoned athletes. I am optimistic that this edition will also deliver outstanding hockey.”
Supporting this sentiment, Hockey India secretary general Bhola Nath Singh commented, “This marks the fifth edition of the Championship, and it has strengthened every year. The competitive level has risen, reflecting the depth of women’s hockey in India. It provides new players with exposure while acknowledging the departments' contributions to the sport.
