Fazel expressed his joy regarding Ashu’s return from injury, stating, “I’m really glad he’s back. When Ashu is on the mat, every match feels easier.”
Dabang Delhi K.C. returned to winning form and reclaimed the top position in the table after defeating U Mumba with Ashu Malik scoring 23 points – marking his best performance in the league. Achieving a remarkable 47-26 victory, this win stands as the second highest margin in PKL 12.
During the post-match press conference, Ashu Malik discussed his milestone while emphasizing the team’s aim to reduce errors. “It feels amazing. The team performed brilliantly today, both in offense and defense. We played well in the last match but made several mistakes that cost us dearly. So, we aimed to correct those errors and we did so today, particularly in the second half,” he remarked.
Fazel also offered insights into the team’s strategies, recognizing the significance of his captain's performances. "Winning the match is crucial. Initially, our plan was to control them, so we allowed some bonus points. In the second half, Surjeet and I adjusted our strategy. You could see that our tackling improved significantly, and the match became easier once that happened. Also, when Ashu is playing, every match is easy. I’m extremely pleased he is back from injury," he noted.
Echoing his captain’s thoughts, head coach Joginder Narwal added, “We lost our previous match in the dying seconds. That was a mistake from me and my team. However, before this match, I reminded my players that we must focus and perform well until the end, and that’s exactly what they accomplished.”
The victory propelled Dabang Delhi K.C. back to the top of the standings with 14 points. Reflecting on regaining the lead, Ashu Malik stated, “You can see that everyone is enjoying the win, and being at the top of the table boosts our confidence that we belong here. We’re executing the plans the coach provides, and hopefully, we can maintain this momentum.”
