New Delhi, Sep 26 (NationPress) Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy declared on Friday that the 2.09 lakh employees of Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries, along with 38,000 workers from Singareni Collieries, will each be awarded Rs 1,03,000 as a performance reward, acknowledging their dedication and hard work.
In recent months, the Ministry of Coal has made significant efforts to fortify India’s core sector, ensuring that the welfare of every individual in the coal community is a top priority, the minister emphasized.
The coal industry has achieved remarkable milestones in production and efficiency while also implementing groundbreaking initiatives for employee welfare across PSUs. Notably, the insurance coverage for employees has been raised to Rs 1 crore, providing enhanced financial security for families without any insurance premium contributions from employees.
For the first time, insurance coverage has also been extended to non-permanent staff, representing an inclusive approach to holistic welfare that requires no premium payments from employees.
Additionally, the ex-gratia compensation has increased from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, demonstrating a commitment to supporting families during challenging times.
Furthermore, a standardized dress code has been introduced across CIL and its subsidiaries, from CMD to the worker level, symbolizing equality, unity, and a shared identity within the Coal Pariwar.
“This announcement, coinciding with the festive season, reflects the Government’s model of governance where development is intertwined with dignity and welfare for every worker. It serves not only as a financial reward but also as a message of recognition, gratitude, and empowerment for the Coal Pariwar that fuels our nation,” the minister stated.
“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, we have been guided to place individuals at the center of our policies. His vision inspires us to cultivate a sector that is both high-performing and compassionate,” the minister added.
Collectively, the Coal Pariwar has demonstrated that India’s strength resides in the unity of its workforce and the clarity of its vision. The coal sector will continue to aspire towards new benchmarks and foster a more secure future for every member of our community, the minister affirmed.
He further noted that PM Modi’s mantra of “Reform, Perform, and Transform” will motivate the coal sector to advance with renewed determination, ensuring it remains a cornerstone of progress and welfare.
