Bhopal, Nov 8 (NationPress) The Congress party's central leadership has announced plans for a significant protest to draw attention to the alleged 'vote theft' occurring this month in New Delhi. More than 50,000 party members from Madhya Pradesh are set to converge on the iconic Ramleela Maidan.
During a press conference, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari stated that the state party's activists will establish a presence at Delhi's Ramleela Maidan from November 25 to 30 as part of a national initiative against the supposed 'vote theft'.
"The Congress is spearheading a grand protest in New Delhi from November 25 to 30. Consequently, over 50,000 party workers from Madhya Pradesh will gather at the Ramleela Maidan. Congress members from all over the nation will join to form a human chain outside the President's residence," Patwari elaborated.
During the press event, Congress officials leveled serious accusations against both the Election Commission (EC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Madhya Pradesh, which commenced on November 4.
Senior leader Sajjan Singh Verma, assigned to oversee a committee addressing SIR matters in the state, informed the press that over 1.5 lakh RSS members have been registered as booth-level officers (BLOs) in Madhya Pradesh.
He also raised concerns that contact details for approximately 28,000 BLOs were missing from the list provided by the Election Commission.
"Why weren't the contact numbers of BLOs included in the list given to the Congress party?" Verma questioned.
The Congress party also contended that the SIR exercise was initiated without adequate preparation, with a majority of BLOs yet to receive Form 18 and over 65 percent of villages still awaiting these forms.
The Election Commission has entered the second phase of the SIR process across nine states, including Madhya Pradesh, and three Union Territories starting from November 4.
This initiative will persist until December 4, 2025, with one BLO assigned to each of the 65,014 polling stations statewide, conducting door-to-door enumeration.
Claims and objections will be accepted until January 8, and following the resolution of all claims by January 31, the final voter list is expected to be published on February 7.
