Bhopal, Nov 10 (NationPress) In a celebratory move for Bhai Dooj, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has reaffirmed the continuation of the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana, committing to transfer Rs 1,500 to 1.26 crore beneficiaries; payments will commence on November 12 via a straightforward single-click transfer in Madhya Pradesh's Seoni.
A cabinet meeting held on Monday sanctioned the required funds for this month’s installments, bringing the total disbursement since March 2023 to a staggering Rs 44,000 crore.
Chaitanya Kashyap, the Minister for MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), emphasized that the total financial burden on the state budget this year will amount to Rs 20,450 crore.
He described the initiative as a “revolutionary step” towards empowering women financially. “From now on, Rs 1,500 will be credited to our sisters’ accounts every month without any deductions. This is their right, not a form of charity,” he remarked.
The scheme aims to support women aged 21-60 from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, including widows, divorcees, and those in distressing situations. “The event on November 12 in Seoni will witness the CM personally overseeing this transfer,” he added.
Bank representatives and common service centers will assist women lacking smartphones. Since its launch, the program has positively impacted lives, with women in rural settings using the funds for their children’s education and health care.
A government study indicates that 68 percent of beneficiaries have opened bank savings accounts for the first time. The cabinet has reviewed the eligibility criteria, implementing mandatory Aadhaar-EKYC verification to eradicate fraudulent entries.
Urban beneficiaries will receive SMS notifications 24 hours prior to the crediting. The state has partnered with India Post Payments Bank for doorstep service in remote regions. “No woman should need to visit an office to access her funds,” directed the CM.
This initiative has also stimulated local economies, with retail stores reporting increased sales on transfer days. Opposition parties have called for an increase to Rs 3,000, but the government has emphasized the importance of fiscal discipline.
“We are committed to delivering Rs 1,500 each month without fail,” Dr Yadav stated previously. The program is financed through state resources and savings from DBT rationalization. The Ladli Behna Yojana has become a focal point of national discussions, with Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan launching similar programs.
