Muslim Rashtriya Manch targets Rahul Gandhi's politics, warns of national instability
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) on Sunday, 18 October sharply questioned the political approach of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the broader Opposition, warning that attempts to undermine India's unity and constitutional framework are unacceptable. The remarks came during a workers' conference in Lucknow, attended by over 1,000 delegates.
Key Remarks from the Conference
Indresh Kumar, guide of the MRM and a National Executive Member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), chaired the event. He said the Opposition was steering political contestation in a direction that risked fostering instability and public distrust across the country.
Kumar questioned whether the pursuit of political power could ever legitimately override national stability and India's strategic interests. He stressed that democratic processes and constitutional institutions must be respected, rather than subjected to what he described as deliberate erosion of public confidence.
Warning Against Divisive Ideology
Drawing parallels with the situations in Bangladesh and Pakistan, Indresh Kumar cautioned that political confrontation, social divisions, and extremism could destabilise any nation. He urged workers to remain vigilant against ideologies that threaten India's unity and integrity, and to actively promote patriotism, mutual trust, and brotherhood in their communities.
'India needs responsible leadership, social harmony and nation-building, not confrontation and chaos,' Kumar said, according to an MRM statement. He added that the country's true strength lies in its diversity and respect for all faiths.
International Appeal for Peace
On the global stage, Kumar appealed for dialogue over war, referencing tensions involving the US, Iran, and Israel. He called for diplomatic engagement and said human life and peace must be prioritised. His closing message from Lucknow was: 'Love, love and only love.'
Upcoming Awareness Programme Across Uttar Pradesh
The MRM announced it would hold 10 awareness programmes across Uttar Pradesh in the coming weeks, covering themes of nationalism, social harmony, national unity, education, and social responsibility. Two of these will specifically focus on Sufism, highlighting the tradition's message of peace and mutual harmony.
Those present at the conference included National Convenor Mohammad Afzal, Shahid Akhtar, Syed Raza Hussain Rizvi, Girish Juyal, Islam Abbas, Uttar Pradesh Provincial Convenor Shaukat Ali, and several cell convenors and co-convenors, among others. Workers were called upon to advance education, women's dignity, and social harmony to help build, in Kumar's words, 'a new Uttar Pradesh and a new India.'
