Kohima, Jan 14 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, mentioned on Wednesday that the state is grappling with several significant challenges, notably the long-standing Naga political issue, issues related to the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system, and the imperative to utilize its mineral resources.
During his address at the 70th Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) conference held in Chungtia Village, Mokokchung district, CM Rio openly discussed the various challenges that Naga society currently encounters.
Among the concerns he raised were the ongoing quest for a permanent solution to the Naga political issue, social fragmentation, the necessity of bridging divides within the community, governance issues, resource management, and the safeguarding of Article 371A.
Rio emphasized the importance of unity, mutual respect, and collaborative efforts among all Naga tribes to surmount these obstacles.
He also informed the attendees about the proactive measures the state government has initiated, including the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) and the significant consultative meeting held on September 12, 2024, which aimed at engaging stakeholders regarding the Naga political situation.
Stressing a need to move away from a “blame culture,” Rio advocated for resolving conflicts through genuine dialogue and discussions.
He urged the youth to recognize that the history crafted by their ancestors is not merely a legacy to be revered but rather a “call to action” for both the present and future. Honoring the legacy of the “Land of Pioneers,” Rio expressed heartfelt gratitude to the AKM, Chungtia Village, and the Ao Naga community for hosting this significant event.
The Chief Minister praised the pioneers of AKM, highlighting that their vision was not confined to a single tribe but was aimed at the progress of all Nagas. He described the AKM motto, “For the Nation,” as a visionary commitment to selfless service. He recognized the substantial contributions of the Ao tribe to the state’s advancement, reaffirming the government’s acknowledgment of the community as the “Land of Pioneers.”
Rio encouraged the younger generation to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to them, ensuring that the vision of the founding fathers remains the foundation for Naga advancement.
