Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, 15 June met startup founders and venture capitalists in Singapore, urging them to back innovation-led enterprises in the state and become partners in its economic growth. The engagement took place during a Round Table meeting as part of Naidu's two-day Singapore visit aimed at drawing investment and reviewing collaborations tied to the development of Amaravati and key infrastructure projects.

What Naidu Told Investors

Addressing the gathering, Naidu underscored Andhra Pradesh's credentials as an emerging destination for venture-backed businesses. In a post on X, the Chief Minister said, “Venture capital plays a critical role in transforming ideas into scalable enterprises, supporting innovation, risk-taking and the creation of future industries. With our enterprising population, initiatives such as One Family One Entrepreneur, and an unmatched commitment to Speed of Doing Business, Andhra Pradesh offers a strong foundation for innovation-led growth.”

Naidu also pointed to the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub as a concrete institutional anchor for nurturing startups and creating opportunities in emerging sectors. “I invited the community to partner with us, back breakthrough innovations and be part of Andhra Pradesh’s growth story,” he added.

Meeting With India’s High Commissioner

Earlier in the day, Naidu met Dr Shilpak Ambule, High Commissioner of India to Singapore, to explore avenues for deepening bilateral ties. The discussions reportedly covered investment, technology, advanced manufacturing, robotics, medical devices, education, and innovation.

Naidu also highlighted the state’s progress in natural farming, its agricultural and horticultural export capabilities, and emerging opportunities in aviation MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) and shipbuilding — sectors where Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself for global supply-chain integration.

Packed Schedule Ahead

Naidu arrived in Singapore on Sunday evening and was received by members of the local Telugu community, whom he thanked for the warm welcome. His itinerary for the remainder of the visit includes a meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, participation in the World Cities Summit, and a roadshow organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Tuesday evening, where he is scheduled to engage with Singapore-based industrialists.

The Bigger Picture for Andhra Pradesh

The Singapore outreach is part of a broader international investment drive by the Naidu administration, which has prioritised rebuilding Amaravati as a world-class capital city alongside accelerating industrial development across the state. Andhra Pradesh has been actively seeking technology partnerships and foreign direct investment since the current government took charge, with Singapore — a regional hub for venture capital and advanced manufacturing — identified as a strategic partner. This visit signals an effort to translate diplomatic goodwill into committed capital flows and institutional collaborations.
