New Delhi, July 12 (NationPress) Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has sharply criticized the Opposition for their objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being carried out by the Election Commission in Bihar.
In a pointed response, Naqvi stated that the Opposition is “attempting to instill fear and confusion” among the populace, as they struggle to cope with their political irrelevance and ongoing exclusion from power.
During a conversation with IANS on Saturday in New Delhi, Naqvi stressed that the Supreme Court has not imposed any stay on the ECI’s SIR initiative during its latest proceedings, thereby reaffirming its constitutional legitimacy. “No eligible voter will lose their rights. However, there need to be robust measures to ensure that illegal foreigners,” specifically referencing illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, “are not included in the voters’ list,” he remarked.
He characterized the ECI’s initiative as a vital measure to maintain electoral integrity and transparency. “This drive is crucial to guarantee that only authentic Indian citizens are permitted to vote,” he noted.
Targeting the Congress and the RJD, Naqvi accused them of disseminating falsehoods and seeking to regain power through deceitful tactics.
“These parties operate like family-run businesses. The citizens of Bihar and the nation have rejected such politics. Today's India desires reform, development, and effective governance — all of which are being realized under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance,” he asserted.
In a scathing remark, Naqvi referred to Opposition leaders as “parachute ke virasat vaale log” (those who inherit power), maintaining that the age of dynastic politics is finished.
“The country no longer accepts leaders who believe they deserve to rule solely because of their lineage,” he stated.
The SIR initiative in Bihar has ignited a political controversy, with the Opposition voicing fears of voter disenfranchisement, while the BJP upholds it as a move towards free and fair elections.
