New Delhi, April 28 (NationPress) Prominent BJP figure Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi reacted on Monday to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's comments regarding the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto's alarming statement about India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.
In a conversation with IANS, Naqvi stated that the entire nation is rallying behind the motto “Ek hai to safe hai” (Unity is safety), famously championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and is standing together in trust and strength under his guidance.
“Whether it’s a political figure or someone from any other domain, all are speaking in unison. They have confidence in the nation’s strength and the robust leadership of Narendra Modi ji,” Naqvi conveyed to IANS.
This response comes on the heels of Tharoor's remarks where he denounced Bhutto's comments as “inflammatory”. The Thiruvananthapuram MP cautioned that Pakistan should not think it can act against India without facing repercussions.
“Pakistanis need to realize that they cannot harm Indians without consequences. We harbor no ill will toward Pakistan, but if they engage in hostilities, they must be prepared for a counteraction. If violence ensues, it may likely result in more casualties on their side than ours,” Tharoor stated.
Tharoor also pointed out intelligence shortcomings and drew parallels with Israel.
“Clearly, there was no foolproof intelligence available. There were inadequacies. Yet we’ve witnessed Israel, known for its top-notch intelligence, caught off-guard on October 7, two years ago. Just as Israel is waiting for the war's conclusion to demand accountability, we should navigate through the current crisis before holding our government responsible,” he added.
Naqvi, in his comments, underscored that national unity and interest should take precedence over political divides.
“There is no greater prayer than safeguarding the nation, no faith more significant than the nation, and no deity greater than the nation. Today, the entire population stands united in its ambition to dismantle the forces of terror. Citizens want justice for those responsible for these offenses,” he asserted.
The BJP leader further criticized individuals questioning India’s position, accusing them of indirectly endorsing Pakistan’s narrative.
“Pakistan demands evidence of its offenses, and certain individuals here echo the same skepticism. This ‘jugalbandi’ of demanding proof must cease. Our struggle today is against treason,” Naqvi emphasized.
In conclusion, Naqvi reiterated that people from various communities and ideologies have united in support of PM Modi’s vision.
“They are united because they recognize strength in Narendra Modi's resolve,” he concluded.
