Hyderabad, Nov 25 (NationPress) - Congress MLA and government whip Adi Srinivas, along with the Rajanna Sircilla district Collector and other officials, narrowly escaped a calamity when the basement collapsed during their inspection of houses being built under a housing scheme in Vemulawada, Telangana on Tuesday.
The MLA from Vemulawada, Collector Garima Agarwal, and accompanying officials were evaluating the double-bedroom homes under construction within the municipal limits when the unforeseen collapse occurred.
Supporters and officials quickly caught hold of the MLA, averting a potential fall.
In the aftermath, leaders from the opposition party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), claimed that the incident highlighted corruption in the Congress government.
In response, Adi Srinivas pointed out that the collapse exemplifies the operational failures of the BRS government.
He asserted that these homes were sanctioned and constructed by contractors during the BRS regime, alleging that the basement's failure stemmed from hastily executed work using substandard materials aimed at generating commissions.
According to the MLA, the construction of double-bedroom houses in Narsapuram was initiated while the BRS was in power but was left incomplete, with low-quality materials used in the existing structures.
The ruling party official reiterated that Congress had previously raised concerns regarding corruption and subpar work during the BRS tenure. 'After Congress assumed power, we committed to completing these homes and delivering them to beneficiaries. During our inspection, the basement's collapse provided tangible evidence of the issues we highlighted during the BRS rule,' he stated.
Furthermore, the MLA asserted that similar structural failures had occurred with the barrages constructed as part of the Kaleshwaram project.
He assured the public that the government would expedite the completion of the houses and ensure they are delivered to the beneficiaries promptly.
