Manipur Governor Highlights Role of National Integration Tour in Fostering Unity and Cultural Awareness

During his visit to the headquarters of the 26 Sector of the Assam Rifles in Pallel, located in the tribal-populated Kakching district, the Governor launched a team set to participate in the National Integration Tour 2025-2026.
This 23-member group includes leaders from Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), who embarked on a 15-day journey visiting cities such as Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Guwahati, and Shillong.
The Governor was warmly welcomed by Maj. Gen. Gaurav Sharma, Inspector General of the Assam Rifles (South), and Brigadier Robeen Chatterjee, commander of the 26 Sector, upon his arrival at the garrison.
While engaging with the team, Bhalla commended the Assam Rifles for their initiatives aimed at fostering national integration and enhancing people-to-people connections. Drawing from his experience as a former Union Home Secretary, he emphasized that such tours facilitate a profound understanding of India's diversity, pluralistic values, and cultural unity, consequently reinforcing the essence of national integration.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a “Viksit Bharat 2047”, the Governor urged citizens to strive for connectivity across all regions of the country.
He encouraged the participants to propagate the ideals of national unity, harmony, and mutual understanding throughout Manipur.
Team members shared their experiences from the tour and expressed their gratitude to the Assam Rifles for organizing this insightful visit.
Earlier in the day, the Governor interacted with trainees undergoing skill development at the sector headquarters, motivating them to maximize the opportunities available for personal growth and self-sufficiency.
Subsequently, the Governor proceeded to the headquarters of the tribal-inhabited Tengnoupal district, where he was greeted by the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police.
District officials provided Bhalla with updates on various administrative and security-related matters affecting the district.
Accompanied by the First Lady, Jyoti Bhalla, the Governor planted saplings at the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.
