Vijayawada, Sep 29 (NationPress) The upcoming terminal building at Vijayawada International Airport is set to be finalized in just a few months, according to Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapau Rammohan Naidu on Monday.
He stated that the construction of the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) is ongoing and is anticipated to be finished within the next few months. Once completed, the new terminal will greatly enhance passenger capacity.
The Civil Aviation Minister made these remarks during the launch of the Udan Yatri Cafe at Vijayawada Airport.
The Udan Yatri Cafe aims to significantly improve the passenger experience by providing affordable and quality food and beverages, including tea for Rs. 10 and coffee/snacks/sweets for Rs. 20.
Vijayawada International Airport has now become the 7th airport (and 6th AAI airport) to feature the Udan Yatri Café, following Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, and Hollongi.
Ram Mohan Naidu highlighted that the Udan Yatri Cafe initiative will ensure that no air passenger travels with an empty stomach. He also announced plans for more Udan Yatri Cafes at airports nationwide in a phased manner.
The Civil Aviation Minister further shared pivotal updates regarding future developments at Vijayawada International Airport.
He mentioned that a new international flight service from Vijayawada to Singapore will commence shortly, alongside new domestic routes to Ahmedabad, Varanasi, and Pune that will be introduced soon.
In alignment with the 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' initiative, the Minister of Civil Aviation also planted a sapling at the airport's city side.
Present at the event were Kesineni Sivanath, Member of Parliament, Vijayawada; Dr. Sharad Kumar, Member (Operations), Airports Authority of India (AAI); Dr. H. Srinivas, Member (HR), AAI; and senior officials from AAI.
Rammohan Naidu later posted on ‘X’ that the Udan Yatri Café, which provides comfort and value for every traveler, is a significant step toward fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of affordable and accessible air travel for everyone.
After interacting with passengers and receiving positive feedback, the minister remarked, “Looking forward, we will ensure that every airport in India features a Udan Yatri Café, reinforcing our dedication to affordable services and enhanced passenger experiences nationwide.”
