Shimla, July 3 (NationPress) The Himachal Pradesh BJP has expressed strong disapproval towards statements made by state minister Anirudh Singh, who is facing charges related to the wrongful restraint and assault of NHAI officers. The party's reaction comes after Union Minister Nitin Gadkari issued a firm response to the incident.

“Nitin Gadkari is well-acquainted with Himachal Pradesh and is the Union Minister who visited the state following the disaster in 2024, allocating road construction projects worth ₹1 lakh crore, establishing a comprehensive road network, and advancing the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana,” stated BJP state media in-charge Karna Nanda during a media briefing.

Nanda criticized the current state government for the worsening law and order situation, asserting that it has spiraled out of control.

“Who is in charge of the Home Department in the state? The Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu holds that responsibility. If the law and order situation is indeed failing, he should step down,” he remarked.

The BJP spokesperson condemned the assault on NHAI officials by Anirudh Singh and six accomplices.

“When the employees’ union raised concerns over the attack with the Central Minister, and the minister sought a response from the Chief Minister, Singh became agitated and began making statements without justification,” he added.

Nanda emphasized that if Himachal Pradesh's roads are now a blessing, it is thanks to the efforts of Nitin Gadkari.

He remarked that the minister's actions and statements reflect those of a local thug or a panchayat leader.

“Without trust in the state's law and order, he took matters into his own hands. If he believed in the truth of his actions, he would have filed a complaint from the very start,” he noted.

Union Minister Gadkari condemned the “atrocious” assault on NHAI employee Achal Jindal, asserting that such brutality not only jeopardizes individual safety but also undermines institutional integrity.

Jindal, a manager with the NHAI, along with his site engineer, Yogesh, was reportedly attacked while assessing a site in Shimla where a five-story building had collapsed.

Following the registration of a case, Minister Anirudh Singh refuted the allegations and called for a high-level inquiry into supposed irregularities in the state’s road construction.

He made serious accusations regarding the NHAI, alleging extensive irregularities in road construction projects throughout the state.

Singh also claimed that the first information report (FIR) filed against him was a calculated effort to distract from the building collapse, which he attributed to the NHAI’s negligence and excessive hill-cutting during ongoing construction.
