Chandigarh, June 15 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a charge sheet against three suspects in a Special Court regarding the grenade attack on a police post in Punjab’s SBS Nagar district in 2024.
The counter-terrorism agency has traced the bombing back to a significant conspiracy orchestrated by the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror group.
“The three accused—Yugpreet Singh alias Yuvi Nihung, Jaskaran Singh alias Shah, and Harjot Singh alias Jot Hundal—who are all from Rahon village in SBS Nagar, face charges under several sections of the UA(P) Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and other related laws,” stated the agency on Sunday.
The NIA has also initiated further investigations into KZF chief and Designated Individual Terrorist (DIT) Ranjit Singh alias Neeta, operative Jagjit Singh Lahiri alias Jagga alias Hari Singh (currently residing in the UK), and other unidentified terror operatives.
The police post was attacked by the three suspects in 2024, with illicit assistance from foreign handlers who provided financial support and grenades, as per reports.
The case was transferred to the NIA from the Punjab Police in March of this year.
The agency's statement elaborated, “Jagga recruited Yugpreet Singh through an acquaintance in the UK. He radicalized Yugpreet along with other KZF members and communicated via encrypted messaging applications. Additionally, Jagga facilitated over Rs 4.36 lakh in terror funds to Yugpreet through a complex network of Canada-based entities, which have also been identified and investigated.”
“Subsequently, Yugpreet recruited the other two accused, and the trio executed the attack at Police Post Asron during the night of December 1-2, 2024. The grenades were supplied to them by their foreign handlers in November 2024,” the statement continued.
In a related investigation, the NIA recently conducted raids at 15 locations across Punjab and Haryana in connection with a grenade attack at a police post in Amritsar in January 2025.
Numerous incriminating documents, including mobile phones and digital devices, were seized during these operations.
