Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, March 21 (NationPress) Amid increasing calls for the removal of Aurangzeb's grave, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrived in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to assess the site in Khultabad where the tomb is located and is closely monitoring suspicious activities.

This development follows the unrest in Nagpur that erupted on the night of March 17 over the same issue. The NIA team extended its visit to the nearby districts of Parbhani, Jalna, Nanded in Marathwada, and Buldhana in Vidarbha to observe any unusual movements in those areas. Reports indicate that the team has sought help from the state's Anti-Terrorist Squad.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has recently erected tin sheets around two sides of the 18th-century structure. This action was taken three days ago following visits by District Collector Dilip Swami and Superintendent of Police Vinaykumar Rathod to the grave. The tomb of Aurangzeb is classified as a ‘Monument of National Importance’ by ASI.

In connection with the violence in Nagpur, police have filed a sedition case against Fahim Khan, identified as the orchestrator of the unrest, along with five others.

Nagpur's Cyber Crime Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Lohit Matani, stated, "A sedition case has been lodged against six individuals, including Fahim Khan. Some individuals have expressed support for the violence against the police, which could lead to further arrests. Comments made during this period have exacerbated the riots. We are pursuing charges against those who made such remarks.”

The DCP noted that over 300 social media accounts are under investigation concerning the riots in Nagpur, with 140 accounts identified as containing inappropriate posts and videos.

Additionally, Maharashtra Cyber, the agency responsible for cybersecurity and cybercrime enforcement, has initiated action against social media accounts disseminating inflammatory content. Working in conjunction with the Nagpur City Cyber Police Station, several accounts have been flagged for sharing objectionable material related to the recent riots.

“We have identified over 140 instances of inappropriate content across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Consequently, notices under Section 79(3)(b) of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000 have been issued to facilitate the swift removal of such content. Furthermore, notices under Section 94 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 have been dispatched to uncover the true identities of those behind these accounts. We will enforce strict legal measures against anyone responsible for spreading such inflammatory content,” stated a press release from the Additional Director General of Police, Maharashtra State Cyber Department.
