New Delhi, Oct 7 (NationPress) In a major initiative targeting illegal foreign residents, the Operations Cell of the South West District Police has effectively apprehended a Nigerian national for overstaying his visa in India, as reported by the Delhi Police on Tuesday.

The individual in custody, Apeh Nnanna Malachy, 39, hails from Enuguezike, Nigeria. He had remained in India beyond the expiration of his medical visa.

"A specialized team led by Insp. Ram Kumar, I/C AATS/SW, and supervised by Vijaypal Tomar, ACP/Operations, South West District, was formed. The officers, including ASI Vinod Kumar, ASI Dharmendra, HC Mohit, HC Narender, and HC Prashant, were tasked with identifying illegal immigrants through rigorous checks in high-risk areas of the South-West District," stated the police.

Officials indicated that on October 3, they received information regarding a suspicious foreign individual in the Nangal Raya and Vasant Kunj South locality.

Upon intercepting and verifying the individual's status, it was confirmed that Malachy had entered India on March 15, 2021, on a medical visa, which lapsed on May 24, 2021, according to police reports.

He had been living unlawfully in Delhi's Burari region but recently relocated to Mahipalpur due to heightened police activity.

After his apprehension at PS Vasant Kunj South, all required legal processes were followed.
