New Delhi, July 15 (NationPress) In a pivotal turn of events concerning the Nimisha Priya case, the planned execution of the Indian nurse in Yemen has been temporarily suspended, as confirmed by her attorney Subhas Chandren on Tuesday.
In a conversation with IANS, Chandren stated, "We have received an encouraging update from the negotiators. The Yemeni government has halted the execution schedule of Nimisha Priya. Although there is currently no set date for the execution, this postponement grants us essential time to further discussions with the victim's family regarding blood money."
Nimisha Priya, hailing from Kerala, was sentenced to death in Yemen for the murder of a Yemeni citizen.
Her case has attracted significant attention on both national and international levels, with activists and civil society organizations urging intervention to preserve her life.
Chandren acknowledged the substantial efforts exerted by the Indian government and various individuals to aid in negotiations.
