Gadag, (Karnataka) Jan 16 (NationPress) A deeply troubling case involving a ninth-grade student taking her own life has emerged, reportedly after enduring harassment from two young men in the Gadag district of Karnataka on Thursday.

The young girl, aged 15, was a student in the ninth standard. She tragically hanged herself at her home when no family members were present. This heartbreaking event occurred in Banagara Colony, located in Ganjendragarh town of Gadag district.

The victim's family has accused 18-year-old Mutturaj Myageri and 19-year-old Junaidsaab Kandagal of compelling the girl to enter into a relationship with them through relentless torment. Unable to withstand the pressure, she ultimately chose to end her life.

The two accused stated that they were infatuated with Khushi and persistently pursued her. When they attempted to force a relationship, Khushi reached out to her family for help. The adults cautioned the accused about their behavior towards Khushi. Nevertheless, the harassment continued, leading to her tragic decision to end her life.

Khushi's family has filed a formal complaint against Mutturaj Myageri and Junaidsaab Kandagal at the Gajendragarh police station.

Former minister and BJP leader Kalakappa Bandi has spoken out against the incident, calling for the police to take stringent measures against the perpetrators.

Khushi's family, along with Hindu activists, has suggested that this incident may be a case of love jihad and has asked for a thorough investigation from this perspective.

This tragic event follows another distressing incident involving the murder of MCA student Neha Hiremath at a college campus in Hubballi city, Karnataka, by her spurned lover, Fayaz Kondikoppa, which has ignited discussions surrounding love jihad in the region. On the evening of April 18, 2024, Fayaz brutally attacked her, resulting in her death.

However, the Karnataka police, in their charge sheet presented to the Hubballi court for the Neha Hiremath case, dismissed the love jihad theory, attributing the murder to her rejection of marriage rather than any ideological motive. The charge sheet did not mention love jihad at all.
