New Delhi, April 13 (NationPress) Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam issued a stern warning on Sunday, targeting both the Congress and Shiv Sena UBT for alleged financial misconduct and property mismanagement, indicating that legal repercussions are imminent.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, Nirupam cautioned that Uddhav Thackeray's party would soon face the scrutiny of investigations into illegally acquired properties.
He initiated his post by stating that investigations into the Congress party’s alleged misdeeds involving the Waqf Board have reached a critical juncture.
The former Rajya Sabha MP also asserted that the Rs 700-crore property related to the National Herald, which he claims has been 'usurped' by the Congress, is nearing seizure by investigative agencies.
“Action against the illegal properties of ‘Thackeray Waqf Board’ is expected soon,” Nirupam wrote in Hindi.
Last month, Nirupam had raised concerns regarding appeasement and ‘Housing Jihad’ in Mumbai, accusing Muslim contractors involved in slum redevelopment of allocating houses to beneficiaries from their own community to enhance the Muslim population in the city.
He alleged that certain officials in the city were colluding with Muslim redevelopers who aim to boost the Muslim demographic by settling illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
On Sunday, in response to some social media users who labeled him as someone with fluctuating loyalties, Nirupam retorted, “The sins of Congress will not be absolved by labeling me a party switcher. Avoid stereotypes, my dear! Consider #NationalHerald.”
The former MP transitioned from the Congress to Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) last year. Prior to joining Congress, he worked in the undivided Shiv Sena as the editor of 'Dophar Ka Saamana', a Hindi publication of the Shiv Sena, during the 1990s.
Nirupam’s mention of the National Herald case followed a day after the Enforcement Directorate intensified efforts to confiscate properties valued at Rs 661 crore belonging to Congress party-controlled Associated Journals Limited (AJL) in a money laundering investigation.
A notice was also issued by the ED to Jindal South West Projects Limited, which occupies the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors at Herald House, Bandra (East). The firm was instructed to remit the rent/lease amount monthly to the Director, Directorate of Enforcement.
Previously, the ED conducted searches and seizures at multiple sites in Mumbai, Delhi, and Lucknow, uncovering incriminating documents linked to the alleged money laundering activities in the AJL case.
The investigation revealed that Young Indian, a private company beneficially owned by Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, acquired AJL properties worth Rs 2,000 crore for a mere Rs 50 lakh, significantly underestimating their actual value.
