Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, April 17 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Bihar and current Rajya Sabha MP, Nitish Kumar, has received a new official residence in New Delhi after his election to the Upper House of Parliament.
Kumar will now make his home at a Type-8 bungalow located at 9 Sunehri Bagh, a notably prestigious address within Lutyens’ Delhi.
This region is classified as a high-security VIP zone, housing several influential political figures including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and Union Minister Chirag Paswan. Previously, Kumar resided at 6 Kamraj Lane.
With his recent election to the Rajya Sabha, he is now granted a larger and more significant residence within the same elite category. In Lutyens’ Delhi, government residences range from Type-1 to Type-8, with Type-8 being the most exclusive.
These bungalows generally cover an area of 8,000 to 8,500 square feet and come with several bedrooms, spacious living and dining areas, a study, garage facilities, and extensive front and back lawns. They are also outfitted with advanced security measures including 24/7 security personnel, CCTV monitoring, and specialized control systems that reflect the high status of their residents.
In addition to his new residence, Nitish Kumar has also seen an enhancement in his security arrangements. The CRPF has assigned him Z+ category security throughout the country, representing one of the highest levels of protection available to public figures in India.
The assignment of a Type-8 bungalow in such a coveted location is typically reserved for individuals who currently hold or have held top constitutional and political roles. Notable figures such as Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Rahul Gandhi, and former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu have also been granted residences in this category.
Nitish Kumar took his oath as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10, and he resigned as Bihar Chief Minister on April 13. Following his resignation, a new government was sworn in under Samrat Choudhary.
