New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) On Thursday, leaders from the BJP and JD(U) voiced their backing for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s choice to transition to the Rajya Sabha, characterizing it as a personal and esteemed decision made by a senior political figure.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari remarked that Nitish Kumar has been pivotal in reshaping Bihar.
“Nitish Kumar has undoubtedly steered Bihar towards a new direction, lifting the state from a challenging phase to create a more respectable Bihar. The future is in his hands. He is our leader, akin to an elder brother to me. Every decision he makes will be embraced by all of us,” Tiwari stated in an interview with IANS.
BJP MP Dinesh Sharma also commended the seasoned leader, emphasizing his extensive administrative background.
“Nitish Kumar is a highly experienced leader, having served as Chief Minister for nearly 20 years. The Janata Dal (United) is a party he established, and he is its ultimate decision-maker. His desire to join the Rajya Sabha is a personal choice,” Sharma mentioned.
BJP National Spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam indicated that this decision underscores Nitish Kumar’s prominence in the political arena.
“This is a decision made by Nitish Kumar ji himself. He announced via Twitter his intention to enter the Rajya Sabha. His influence in Bihar politics is substantial, and he is a key representative of our NDA alliance,” he commented.
Meanwhile, JD(U) leader K.C. Tyagi expressed confidence in Kumar’s success in this venture. “He has submitted his nomination for the Rajya Sabha and will undoubtedly succeed. His presence will significantly enhance the dignity of the House,” Tyagi added.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar officially filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections.
On the same day, all five candidates, including Nitin Nabin, Shivesh Kumar Ram, and Upendra Kushwaha from the ruling coalition, also submitted their nominations.
Several senior NDA leaders attended the nomination process, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who traveled from New Delhi to Patna for this significant event.
While this nomination marks a crucial political shift for Nitish Kumar, it has also sparked unrest among certain factions within the Janata Dal (United). Protesters assembled outside the Chief Minister's residence, chanting slogans against the BJP and alleging a conspiracy aimed at sidelining Nitish Kumar.
As Amit Shah departed the residence alongside Nitish Kumar, some JD(U) supporters shouted slogans like “Down with Amit Shah,” accusing the BJP of attempting to undermine the party through what they termed 'Operation Lotus'.
