Patna, March 5 (NationPress) In a significant turn of events in Bihar's political arena, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has declared his intention to run for a seat in the Rajya Sabha. Union Minister Giriraj Singh responded to this announcement on Thursday, asserting that Kumar is pursuing this move voluntarily and not due to any external pressure.

Singh also took the opportunity to criticize the Opposition, alleging hypocrisy in their reactions to this news.

In a statement to IANS, Singh remarked, “He will go, and he is going of his own will. Whatever happens will be decided under his guidance.”

He pointed out that the Opposition previously raised concerns about Kumar's health but is now responding in an overly dramatic manner.

“Just yesterday, they were claiming he is unwell. Today, they are acting as if they care,” Singh claimed.

The Union Minister noted that Kumar had long expressed a desire to transition to the Rajya Sabha.

“Three years ago, Kumar voiced his intention to join the Rajya Sabha. This decision is solely his own. The government will continue to function based on his directives,” Singh elaborated.

Earlier, Kumar took to social media to communicate with the citizens, stating that for over twenty years, they have shown unwavering trust and support, allowing him to serve Bihar with commitment.

He credited the people's faith for the state's progress and increased recognition at the national level, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their ongoing support.

Nitish Kumar emphasized that throughout his political career, he has aspired to be a member of both Houses of the Bihar Legislature and Parliament.

In this context, he announced his decision to contest for the Rajya Sabha seat in the upcoming election.
