Amaravati, Jan 28 (NationPress) School students in Andhra Pradesh will no longer be required to carry bags every Saturday, as the government has officially designated each Saturday as a 'no bag day'.

This resolution emerged from a review meeting led by Minister for Education, Information Technology (IT), and Electronics Nara Lokesh on Tuesday.

The Minister encouraged officials to develop co-curricular activities for the students.

During the review concerning school and intermediate education, Minister Lokesh instructed officials to solicit feedback from teachers and various associations regarding the retraction of Government Order (GO) 117 and to propose a universally accepted solution.

The officials reported on the feedback and recommendations collected during preparatory meetings organized by the Director of School Education.

The Minister urged the officers to analyze all these suggestions and take measures to ensure that there are no student dropouts.

The Government Order was originally issued by the preceding YSR Congress government, which implemented several reforms in the educational framework.

However, some educators opposed the GO, arguing that it would negatively impact the education system.

The meeting also concentrated on the forthcoming legislation related to teacher transfers.

Minister Lokesh instructed officials to gather insights from teachers and unions regarding the proposed legislation.

The Minister directed that a unified app for teachers be developed to replace the multiple existing applications, and this should be accomplished as soon as possible.

Additionally, the process of creating an APAAR ID should be completed promptly to accurately assess the total number of students across various schools in the state.

Furthermore, the blueprint for the Andhra Pradesh Model of Education should also be formulated, the Minister asserted to the officials.

The meeting also thoroughly examined the reforms that are set to be introduced in intermediate education.

Present during the meeting were Secretary (Education) Kona Sasidhar, Director V. Vijaya Rama Raju, Director of Intermediate Education Kruthika Shukla, among others.
