Kolkata, Oct 27 (NationPress) Bidhannagar Police announced on Monday the arrest of a notorious conman, who had perpetrated fraud across 13 states. As per reports, the individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended last night in Kerala after police tracked his mobile tower location.
Originally from Bengaluru, he had been evading law enforcement for five years, with searches conducted in various states. Each time, however, the conman managed to elude capture. His primary activities involved financial fraud and cheating. The arrest was made by a specialized team from Bidhannagar Police.
A senior officer from the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate revealed that his modus operandi included traveling to different cities, renting hotel rooms, and befriending other guests. He would then abscond with the 'friend's' credit card, debit card, cash, mobile phone, laptop, and other valuables.
After stealing these items, he would often mail the stolen electronics like mobile phones and laptops back to the 'friend's' residence.
In some cases, he even returned the credit and debit cards to their rightful owners. Recently, he had purchased 15 iPhones. Following his arrest, police recovered numerous Aadhaar cards, 40 SIM cards, and various digital devices from him.
"We had formed a dedicated team for this operation. A group was created on WhatsApp, and continuous surveillance was conducted. After multiple attempts, we finally arrested him in Kerala last night. We are currently pursuing his transit remand," stated the police.
The police also visited his home in Bengaluru, but it seemed he had severed ties with his parents.
"His involvement in crime led to his parents disowning him. After leaving home, he wandered through different states," a police source disclosed.
