Srinagar, Nov 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, visited the bereaved families and those injured in the tragic explosion at the Nowgam police station on Tuesday. He emphasized that the community deserves transparent answers regarding the factors leading to this accidental blast.
The J&K CM's office posted on X, stating, "This morning, the Chief Minister met with the families mourning the loss of their loved ones due to the Nowgam Police Station explosion. He expressed his sincere condolences, prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased, and assured them of comprehensive support from the Government during this challenging time.
Additionally, the Chief Minister visited the injured individuals at a local hospital in Nowgam, where he assessed their treatment and engaged with doctors and family members. He stressed the necessity for top-tier medical care, reiterating that the health of the injured is the utmost priority," the post further elaborated.
Accompanying him were his advisor, Nasir Sogami, and MLA Chanapora Mushtaq Guroo.
After visiting the injured at Ujala Cygnus Hospital, Omar Abdullah raised concerns about how such a significant amount of explosive material ended up at the police facility and why this incident was permitted to happen.
He noted that the explosion took the lives of individuals unrelated to government duties.
"Among the deceased were a tailor and a photographer, as well as a man associated with the administration. We must understand how and why this occurred. Such an incident should never have happened," he stated.
Omar Abdullah commended the medical personnel at Ujala Hospital for their swift response.
"The staff exhibited great courage and commitment while treating the injured. I am genuinely grateful to them," he remarked.
