Bilaspur, Aug 6 (NationPress) A devastating incident at the NTPC power facility in Sipat, located in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, has resulted in the tragic loss of one worker's life and left four others in critical condition on Wednesday.
The mishap occurred during maintenance operations in Unit No. 5 of the facility when a heavy platform, part of the air pre-heater assembly, unexpectedly collapsed.
Initial reports indicate that five workers were trapped beneath the collapsed structure. Colleagues at the scene promptly acted, successfully rescuing all individuals before emergency personnel arrived. Two of the injured were taken to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilaspur, where one unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Another worker in critical condition has been admitted to Apollo Hospital, while the remaining three are being treated at the NTPC Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Shyam Sahu, aged 27, according to Praveen Ranjan Bharati, the public relations officer for the NTPC unit.
