Bhubaneswar, June 10 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated on Tuesday that Odisha has emerged as a beacon of 'good governance' in the nation over the past year.
During a press conference marking the first anniversary of his administration, CM Majhi highlighted the government's numerous achievements since he took office on June 12 last year, effectively delivering on nearly all major electoral promises.
“Our dedicated efforts aim to position Odisha as a model for other states. This commitment is beginning to show fruitful results. Odisha is indeed becoming a benchmark for governance,” Majhi articulated.
In his address, CM Majhi confirmed that his administration has made significant strides in fulfilling the BJP's electoral promises over the past year.
He pointed out that the government commenced its pledge to the populace during its inaugural Cabinet meeting shortly after taking office on the evening of June 12, 2024.
In this initial meeting, the BJP government endorsed the Subhadra Yojana to assist women financially, approved an Rs 800 input subsidy for paddy, opened four gates of the Jagannath Temple, and established a Rs 500 crore corpus for the enhancement of the historic shrine.
Furthermore, he stated that the state government has consistently advanced these initiatives over the last year, fulfilling nearly all primary commitments.
CM Majhi also highlighted that Odisha has led the country with the establishment of 17 lakh Lakhpati Didis, allocated a record Rs 37,838 crores for the agricultural sector, launched the Samruddha Krushak Yojana, established the Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya in education, and implemented the New Education Policy alongside the Sishu Vatika program. He noted the introduction of Ayushman Bharat Yojana in healthcare, a historic allocation of Rs 65,102 crore for infrastructure, and Rs 68,881 crore for the welfare of SC/STs.
The Chief Minister emphasized that these initiatives reflect the government's policies and objectives.
“Our key achievement is ensuring effective governance while combating corruption. Today, no corrupt official, from a peon to an IAS officer, is beyond accountability. Anyone found guilty of corruption will face jail time, no exceptions,” Majhi asserted.
He mentioned his recent visits to all 30 districts, where he personally listened to citizens' concerns.
The government has initiated plans to provide safe drinking water to 90% of the populace by 2026.
Additionally, he stated that housing will be provided to five lakh individuals under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana. So far this year, 28,000 youths have been employed, with an additional 40,000 expected to join the workforce.
“By 2036, Odisha will undoubtedly rank among the top five states in the country, and we aim to transform Odisha into a $500 billion economy by that time. By 2047, Odisha will play a crucial role in realizing a 'Viksit Bharat', as envisioned by Prime Minister Modi,” concluded Majhi.
