Bhubaneswar, Dec 30 (NationPress) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his strong disapproval of the recent heinous attack directed at a young man from Odisha, perpetrated by a group of four troubled youths at Tiruttani in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that measures are underway to ensure the victim receives optimal medical care and that the offenders face stringent penalties.
After learning of the shocking incident, CM Majhi promptly acknowledged the situation and conveyed his profound concern via a post on the official X account of the Chief Minister’s Office.
“This brutal assault on an innocent Odia individual is utterly condemnable. The Odisha government is treating this occurrence with the utmost seriousness and is maintaining ongoing communication with the Tamil Nadu authorities. We are taking necessary actions at the administrative level to facilitate comprehensive treatment and support for the victim and to secure harsh punishment for the aggressors,” articulated CM Majhi.
“The safety and dignity of all Odias are of utmost importance to us. Our administration is resolute in ensuring the security of every Odia citizen working outside our state,” the Chief Minister further reassured.
In the meantime, senior BJD leader and Deputy Leader of Opposition Prasanna Acharya voiced significant concern regarding the violent attack on an Odia laborer in Tamil Nadu, labeling it “extremely alarming and intolerable.”
He has urged both state governments to guarantee the protection of migrant laborers and insisted on strict legal measures against those involved.
“This incident is distressing. Our citizens migrate in search of work due to the limited job prospects available here. The government must foster employment opportunities locally to curb such distress migration,” Acharya pointed out.
Denouncing the attack, he affirmed that every Indian holds the constitutional right to reside and work in any state.
“No citizen should be hindered from living or working anywhere in the nation. Such violent acts are entirely unacceptable. I do not endorse this in any way,” he remarked.
“I urge the government to initiate appropriate actions promptly. I will also bring this issue to light and pursue accountability from the relevant authorities,” added the senior BJD leader.
He underscored that this incident should act as a wake-up call to enhance worker safety protocols and strengthen coordination between states to avert such events in the future.
In a troubling turn of events that has sparked widespread outrage, four 17-year-old boys were apprehended on Monday for brutally assaulting an Odia man with a sickle near the Tiruttani railway station in Tiruvallur district a few days ago. The victim has been identified as K Suraj (20) from Odisha.
