Jammu, Jan 21, (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, visited the village of Budhal in the Rajouri district on Tuesday to meet with the families of 17 victims who tragically lost their lives, affecting three households.
During his visit, the Chief Minister conveyed his deep sorrow and offered his condolences, assuring the grieving families that his government would provide them with comprehensive support and assistance.
Accompanying him were Cabinet Minister Javed Rana and MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal Choudhary. Abdullah emphasized the government's commitment to preventing such incidents in the future and ending the recent wave of tragic deaths.
He confirmed that a thorough investigation is currently in progress to ascertain the cause of this tragedy.
“The civil administration and the Health Department are actively working on this issue, while the police have established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the matter. Furthermore, a central team has been dispatched to diligently uncover the reasons for this tragic loss of life,” he stated.
During the visit, MLA Javed Iqbal Choudhary presented a proposal for compensation to the impacted families.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the proposal is currently under consideration and promised timely action.
Omar Abdullah also instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri to provide all necessary support to the affected families during this challenging time.
He reassured the public that the investigation’s findings would be transparent, and appropriate actions would be taken based on the results.
He urged for a halt to political interference, stating, “I appeal to everyone to let the relevant agencies carry out their duties. Our top priority is to identify the causes of these tragic deaths, and we are dedicated to implementing measures to prevent such incidents in the future.”
