Kolkata, January 1 (NationPress) On the very first day of the New Year, which marks the anniversary of the Trinamool Congress's establishment, the party leader and Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, urged her party members to remain resolute in safeguarding the democratic rights of the state's citizens in the upcoming challenges.
In a message shared via social media on Thursday morning, the Chief Minister subtly directed her comments towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) without naming them, indicating her disapproval of the Union government's actions and the ruling party at the national level.
CM Banerjee reflected on how, since its inception on January 1, 1998, the Trinamool Congress has diligently fought against the previous CPI(M)-led Left government in West Bengal, although she refrained from mentioning the Left Front directly.
“On this significant occasion of the All India Trinamool Congress Foundation Day, I convey my heartfelt greetings and congratulations to everyone. Our journey to serve Ma-Mati-Manush began on this day in 1998.
“The fundamental guiding principle of this historical journey remains the honor of our motherland, the advancement of Bengal, and the safeguarding of the democratic rights of our people.
“Even today, every member and supporter of our party stands firm and committed to this mission. I sincerely express my gratitude and respect for their unwavering efforts and sacrifices,” CM Banerjee's social media message stated.
In her following remarks, CM Banerjee emphasized that even though her party has been granted the public mandate to govern West Bengal since 2011, she remains committed to defending and advocating for the democratic rights of the populace.
“The Trinamool Congress family is blessed with the love, grace, and prayers of countless individuals. With your steadfast support as our foundation, we will remain unwavering in our fight for every person in this great democratic nation. We will not yield to any malicious forces, and despite all hostilities, our struggle for the common people will persist for a lifetime,” CM Banerjee added.
She concluded her message by extending “salutations and respects” to all her party members and supporters of the state government led by her.
