Who is the mastermind behind the arrests in Dhubri's communal clashes?

Guwahati, June 24 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Tuesday that over 150 individuals have been apprehended due to the recent communal strife in Dhubri district.

During his second visit to the troubled area within ten days, Sarma shared that the alleged mastermind of the unrest has been pinpointed.

The disturbances in Dhubri flared up after the discovery of cattle remains near a temple during Eid al-Adha, leading to widespread chaos and raising alarms about communal peace in this sensitive border region.

"The mastermind has been identified. To date, more than 150 arrests have occurred, and investigations are advancing rapidly," stated the Chief Minister, affirming the government's strict approach against those instigating communal violence.

Sarma reiterated that shoot-at-sight orders during the night curfew remain active, highlighting the administration's zero-tolerance stance on any attempts to disrupt public order.

Additionally, he disclosed that discussions are underway with the Indian Army to create a permanent military base in Dhubri, aimed at enhancing long-term security in the volatile region.

"We are in talks with the relevant authorities. A permanent army camp in Dhubri would significantly bolster security and aid in maintaining peace," Sarma stated.

He further mentioned that intelligence and police operations are being intensified across crucial locations to avert any recurrence of violence.

Meanwhile, the district administration is enforcing partial curfews and maintaining an increased security presence in sensitive areas.

This unrest has ignited a political debate statewide, with leaders calling for accountability, swift justice, and ongoing efforts to safeguard communal harmony.

Sarma also convened an important meeting with senior officials at the Dhubri Circuit House, reviewing the developments in the town with a focus on peace and public order.

Notably, prohibited mutton was seized from the vicinity of the Hanuman Mandir in Ward No. 3, an incident that incited considerable tension in the locality.

In response to the situation, the Chief Minister visited Dhubri on June 13 to assess the circumstances and evaluate law enforcement strategies.

Post-meeting, Sarma indicated that the gathering included the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), District Commissioner of Dhubri, and Senior Superintendent of Police, who collectively evaluated the recent events in the area.

He noted that normalcy has been restored in the town and that efforts are ongoing to maintain the current state of peace and stability.

Moreover, he stated that land-related issues affecting the town were discussed during the meeting, expressing optimism that these matters would be resolved gradually.
