Guwahati, June 15 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reaffirmed the state's dedication to combating anti-social and anti-national forces, noting their profound historical roots tracing back to the post-Independence period.
“We have already implemented measures. Assam is a highly sensitive region. These anti-national forces won't cease their activities merely because of my warnings, as their actions have persisted since independence,” Sarma stated, highlighting that the state's initiative against such behaviors is ongoing.

Sarma disclosed that police in Lakhipur, Goalpara district apprehended five suspects accused of attempting to provoke communal discord by allegedly throwing beef near a temple shortly after Eid-al-Adha.
The suspects have been identified as Bodir Ali, Hazarat Ali, Tara Mia, Shajamal Mia, and Jahangir Alom, all residents of the Khakilamari area under Lakhipur Police Station.
