Villupuram (Tamil Nadu), Aug 19 (NationPress) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC), presided over by party founder Dr. S. Ramadoss, has suggested the issuance of a show-cause notice to his son and party leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss. This notice requests an explanation regarding 16 charges filed against him.
The decision emerged from a DAC meeting held at Dr. Ramadoss's Thailapuram residence in Villupuram.
R. Arul, an MLA from Salem West and DAC member, informed the media that the notice will be sent by the party's Organising Secretary under Section 19 of the party's bylaws.
Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss must respond, either in person or through a written statement, by August 31, and provide any supporting documents if available.
The allegations against him include claims of "inappropriate behaviour" during the party's General Council meeting last December, attempts to create divisions within the party, and directives to district secretaries to avoid attending the Thailapuram meeting convened by Dr. Ramadoss.
Additionally, he is accused of misusing social media to disseminate derogatory comments about the party's founder.
In response to remarks made by Anbumani Ramadoss's aide K. Balu, who belittled the binding nature of General Council decisions, Dr. Ramadoss dismissed the issue, emphasizing that Balu has already been expelled from the party.
Dr. Ramadoss stated, "His remarks do not warrant significant attention."
In other news, Dr. Ramadoss expressed his approval of the nomination of Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan as the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) candidate for the Vice-President position.
The party's honorary President, G.K. Mani, along with other DAC members, participated in the discussions. This situation signifies a considerable escalation in the ongoing conflict between the PMK founder and his son, who has increasingly opposed the party leadership. With the issuance of the show-cause notice, all eyes are on Anbumani Ramadoss's reaction to the allegations and whether this will exacerbate the internal discord or pave the way for a resolution.
