Chennai, Sep 2 (NationPress) PMK founder S. Ramadoss is set to unveil the findings of the disciplinary proceedings concerning his son and party working president, Anbumani Ramadoss, on Wednesday. This comes after a tumultuous incident that has tested the party's internal cohesion.
Following a session of the nine-member Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) in Thailapuram on Monday, PMK MLA and trusted aide of Dr. Ramadoss, R. Arul, confirmed that all committee members were engaged in discussions. He noted that due to Anbumani's failure to respond to the notice, the committee documented their verdict in a sealed envelope.
Arul stated that the conclusive decision will be revealed by Ramadoss on September 3 during a meeting of the party’s administrative committee.
The discord between father and son emerged in mid-August when Ramadoss appointed his grandson Mukundan, son of Gandhimathi, as the leader of the PMK’s youth wing. Anbumani publicly expressed his opposition at the event where the appointment was made, even walking out of the meeting prematurely.
In response, the party held a general body meeting in Puducherry on August 17, led by Ramadoss, where Anbumani faced 16 allegations, including operating a separate office in Panayur, Chennai, making derogatory comments about Ramadoss online, and installing surveillance devices at the Thailapuram residence.
A show-cause notice was issued, demanding Anbumani’s response by August 31; however, no explanation was provided.
Notices sent to three MLAs who supported him also received no replies.
With the deadline passed, the DAC convened on Monday to deliberate on whether Anbumani should face expulsion from the PMK or be removed from his role as working president.
The committee sealed its recommendations, leaving the ultimate decision to founder Ramadoss. The announcement expected on Wednesday could have significant repercussions for the PMK, a party historically tied to the Ramadoss family. Political analysts suggest that the outcome may alter the leadership structure as the party gears up for the 2026 Assembly elections.
