Villupuram (Tamil Nadu), Aug 19 (NationPress) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC), headed by party founder Dr. S. Ramadoss, has proposed to issue a show-cause notice to his son and party leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, requesting a response to 16 accusations made against him.

This decision came during a DAC meeting held at Dr. Ramadoss's residence in Thailapuram, Villupuram.

MLA R. Arul, a DAC member, informed the media that the notice will be sent by the party’s Organising Secretary in accordance with Section 19 of the party’s by-laws.

Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss has been asked to reply, either personally or in writing, by August 31, along with any supporting documents he may have.

The charges against him include allegations of “inappropriate behaviour” during the party’s General Council meeting last December, efforts to induce a split within the party, and directions to district secretaries to avoid attending the Thailapuram meeting called by Dr. Ramadoss.

He has also been accused of using social media to spread derogatory statements against the party founder.

When questioned about comments from Anbumani Ramadoss's aide K. Balu, who reportedly downplayed the authority of decisions made at the General Council, Dr. Ramadoss dismissed the issue, noting that Balu has already been expelled from the party.

“His remarks do not warrant significant attention,” he stated.

In the meantime, Dr. Ramadoss has expressed his support for the nomination of C.P. Radhakrishnan, the Governor of Maharashtra, as the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) candidate for the Vice-President’s position.

The party's honorary President, G.K. Mani, along with other DAC members, participated in the discussions. This incident signifies a notable escalation in the discord between the PMK founder and his son, who has been increasingly at odds with the party hierarchy. The issuance of the show-cause notice has raised questions about how Anbumani Ramadoss will respond to the allegations and whether this will exacerbate the internal conflict or pave the way for reconciliation.

Point of View

I observe that this escalating conflict within the PMK highlights significant issues of leadership and authority. The show-cause notice issued to Anbumani Ramadoss reflects deeper fractures in party unity that could impact their political standing. The resolution of this dispute will be crucial for the future of the PMK.
