Chennai, Nov 1 (NationPress) The founder of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Dr S. Ramadoss, declared on Saturday that the party will conduct integrated district-level working committee meetings throughout Tamil Nadu, despite the escalating tensions between him and his son, the party President, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss.

In his statement, Dr Ramadoss noted, "The integrated district working committee meetings of the PMK will be convened in every district across Tamil Nadu. State-level coordinators have been designated to oversee each district's session. All office-bearers — including those at the state, district, city, union, town, and area levels, along with activists and special invitees — will participate in their respective district meetings."

He emphasized that discussions will concentrate on bolstering the organization, evaluating development initiatives, and strategizing the PMK’s next political phase.

"These meetings will assist in evaluating our progress and preparing for upcoming political challenges," he further stated.

However, this announcement comes at a time when the internal discord within the PMK's founding family has become increasingly apparent.

The rift between Dr Ramadoss and Anbumani has widened over leadership approaches, decision-making processes, and alliance strategies leading to the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. While Dr Ramadoss advocates for a traditional, cadre-driven structure that prioritizes representation from the Vanniyar community — the PMK’s primary support base — his son has been advocating for a more modern, development-focused image to appeal to younger and urban voters.

Adding complexity to the family dynamics, Dr Ramadoss recently appointed his daughter, Srikanthi Parasuram, as the party’s Working President. Her rise to this prominent position is viewed as a crucial step to reinforce the founder’s influence within the organization and maintain equilibrium among the top leadership.

Party insiders suggest that this decision reflects Ramadoss's determination to retain firm control over PMK’s organizational structure amidst the growing rift with his son. Political analysts believe the district-level meetings, held under Dr Ramadoss’s direct oversight, will not only address party matters but also act as a demonstration of strength by the veteran leader. The meetings are anticipated to reaffirm his authority over the PMK’s ranks as the family-led party navigates an increasingly intricate internal power struggle.
