Patna, Aug 19 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, delivered a scathing critique of the BJP and the Election Commission during the Voter Adhikar Yatra, drawing parallels between this movement and India’s historical freedom struggle.
While addressing a gathering in Nawada, Yadav remarked: “The fervor, zeal, and resolve among all of you remind me of the days of the freedom struggle. Just as our nation rallied against British rule to achieve independence, we too are united in our fight to protect democracy, uphold the Constitution, and safeguard our voting rights. Just as the British had to vacate, these vote thieves will also be compelled to restore the rights of the people.”
Positioning himself as part of a new wave of leadership, the RJD chief proclaimed: “We are the youth, and we envision a developed Bihar.”
Criticizing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the NDA, Yadav accused the administration of being unoriginal and imitating the opposition's proposals.
“This is a government that lacks creativity. Every initiative we introduce is mimicked by Nitish Kumar’s administration—be it social security pensions, free electricity, domicile policies, or employment opportunities. They lack their own vision.”
Moreover, he charged the ruling BJP with ignoring significant issues affecting the youth of Bihar. “This exhausted government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are jeopardizing the futures of our young population. They avoid discussions on education, health, jobs, and migration. We are deeply concerned about these matters and will strive to form a government that is inclusive of all castes and religions.”
The Voter Adhikar Yatra, spearheaded by leaders from the Grand Alliance including Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, Dipankar Bhattacharya, Mukesh Sahani, Rajesh Ram, and others, is gathering substantial crowds across Bihar as it addresses alleged discrepancies in the voters’ list and defends democratic rights.
Commencing from Sasaram on August 17, this yatra has progressed through Aurangabad and Gaya, covering 23 districts and culminating at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on September 1.
