Patna, Sep 1 (NationPress) - As the Voter Adhikar Yatra reached its concluding phase in Patna on Monday, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, fiercely criticized both the BJP and the Election Commission of India. Speaking to journalists at Gandhi Maidan, Yadav claimed that the election authority has become an "extension" of the BJP.
“The credibility of the Election Commission is now shattered. Through the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, citizens have come to understand how the Election Commission has operated as a wing of the BJP to favor the NDA in the state. The BJP is now exposed to the entire nation,” Yadav stated.
He further accused both the BJP and the election authority of being involved in "collusion in vote theft".
“The manner in which the BJP and the Election Commission were allegedly engaged in vote manipulation, the people of Bihar will compel the BJP to exit the state. A message will resonate across the country from Bihar—that those attempting to undermine democracy and the Constitution will face a fitting response,” Yadav asserted.
Tejashwi Yadav emphasized the considerable support received by the opposition march across various districts.
“The Voter Adhikar Yatra commenced from Sasaram on August 17, and we have garnered immense support from the populace. A vast number of individuals joined us spontaneously,” he remarked.
The concluding march began at Gandhi Maidan in Patna and is currently progressing towards Dr B.R. Ambedkar Park near the Patna High Court via SP Verma Road, Dak Bungalow Chowk, and Income Tax Golchakkar.
Prominent opposition leaders have participated in the march, showcasing unity under the INDIA bloc.
Alongside Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, Mukesh Sahani, and Dipankar Bhattacharya, leaders from other states, including Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, Trinamool Congress MP Yusuf Pathan, NCP’s Supriya Sule, and Shiv Sena(UBT)’s Sanjay Raut, are also present.
This rally signifies the culmination of a two-week campaign that the opposition is framing as a movement to protect democracy in anticipation of the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
