Patna, July 15 (NationPress) Following the Bihar Cabinet's endorsement of a plan to generate one crore jobs within the next five years, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, directed a fierce critique at the Nitish government, expressing skepticism over its commitment and financial strategy regarding this ambitious goal.
During a press conference in Patna, Tejashwi stated, "This government has failed to deliver on any of its promises so far. If they have something to defend, let them do so, but this is merely a government that imitates others. Has anyone ever heard Nitish Kumar articulate this himself? He should step up and address it directly."
Tejashwi raised concerns about the government's financial blueprint to achieve this promise, questioning: "With the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, these individuals are likely to depart, so they can claim anything they want. Will you (journalists) not inquire where the funding for one crore jobs will originate?"
In its session, the Bihar Cabinet ratified the Labour Resources Department's proposition to establish one crore jobs over the next five years, formalizing a declaration made by Chief Minister Nitish in advance of the Assembly elections.
Political analysts view this declaration as a significant electoral strategy by the NDA government to counter the opposition's narrative surrounding unemployment and youth discontent in the state.
Tejashwi also endorsed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent claim that Bihar has turned into the "crime capital" of India.
He remarked, "Rahul Gandhi is completely correct. Bihar has indeed become the crime capital of India. Murders occur daily, and incidents of kidnapping, robbery, and sexual assault happen constantly, yet nobody is held accountable. Everyone seems to be in a state of denial."
The remarks from the RJD leader suggest that law and order along with unemployment will be pivotal issues for the opposition in the approaching Bihar Assembly elections.
