Over 600 Schools Closed in Arunachal Pradesh Over 9 Years to Enhance Educational Standards: Chief Minister Khandu

Itanagar, Dec 2 (NationPress) In a significant move to enhance the quality of education, Chief Minister Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh disclosed on Monday that the state has shut down more than 600 schools in the last nine years.

Speaking at a public assembly in Logum Jini, Aalo located in the West Siang district, Khandu mentioned that additional school closures are anticipated in the near future.

He emphasized the importance of quality over quantity, asserting that the number of schools is less important than the standard of education they provide.

Khandu highlighted that the excessive number of government schools had adversely affected educational quality.

"You will be astonished to learn that over the past nine years, we have closed down more than 600 schools," he stated to the audience.

To address educational challenges, Khandu noted that brainstorming sessions or ‘Chintan Shivirs’ are being organized throughout the state under the leadership of Education Minister P.D. Sona and advisor Mutchu Mithi to identify and document key issues within the department and explore potential solutions.

Upon completion of these sessions, a detailed report with suggestions will be presented to the state government for action.

"I assure you that the recommended reforms will be implemented thoroughly," Khandu pledged.

The government plans to concentrate on Inter Village schools, ensuring they are equipped with essential facilities such as hostels, qualified teachers, and modern teaching techniques. To effectively carry out these reforms, some of which may be challenging, Khandu requested the community's support and cooperation.

While discussing the rising revenue collection in the state coffers, the Chief Minister reiterated that the state’s revenue generation is expected to see a significant increase in the forthcoming years.
