New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) In a bid to cultivate an atmosphere of war hysteria, Pakistan has deployed its contingent of misinformation creators and ISI-affiliated trolls to disseminate a narrative suggesting that senior Indian military officials faced punitive measures for purported failures tied to the Pahalgam terror incident – a claim that has been categorically rejected by the authorities in New Delhi on Saturday.
“Pakistan’s recent disinformation campaign reflects its desperate attempts as India maintains a composed yet steadfast stance against cross-border terrorism. The Indian Armed Forces — grounded in transparency, professional integrity, and constitutional oversight — will remain undeterred by such propaganda,” stated an Indian government official.
In response to Pakistan’s misinformation, Indian cyber regulators and officials have engaged in rapid fact-checking, issuing immediate refutations, blocking posts, channels, and accounts originating from Pakistan, and dispelling rumors concerning the operational readiness of Indian forces, he explained.
Indian officials have also observed a clear pattern in the timing and targets of the false allegations propagated by Islamabad.
“All false claims emerged within hours of New Delhi’s strategic diplomatic and military communication following the Pahalgam tragedy. Furthermore, senior commanders responsible for intelligence, Northern theatre operations, and air-power deployment were specifically targeted to raise doubts about India’s readiness,” remarked an official.
Two senior officers – one from the Army’s Northern Command and the other from the IAF - who were mentioned by pro-Pakistan social media accounts as having been “shunted” by the Indian government post-Pahalgam attack, actually retired on April 30 after decades of dedicated service. Their successors were appointed well ahead of the tragic events that unfolded on April 22 in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley.
In one such erroneous narrative, Pakistan-based media and trolls alleged that the Director General of the Defence Intelligence Agency, Lieutenant General D.S. Rana, was transferred by the Indian government to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands following the Pahalgam incident.
According to official information from the Indian government, Lieutenant General Rana has received a promotion to the rank of Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), a prestigious tri-services command effective from June 1.
