Palaniswami Highlights Campaign Strategy and Alliance Coordination After Meeting with Amit Shah
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 3 (NationPress) AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has stated that his recent discussion with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi was centered on strategizing for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and fortifying the existing alliance framework.
With the Assembly elections approaching in just a few months, political activities in Tamil Nadu are ramping up. The ruling DMK has already commenced seat-sharing talks with its allies, and there are rising expectations that the AIADMK will soon initiate formal conversations with its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners.
Against this backdrop, Palaniswami made a trip to Delhi on Monday, where he engaged in a nearly two-hour meeting with Amit Shah, triggering speculation regarding potential political shifts in the state.
Addressing reporters at the Delhi airport on Tuesday morning, Palaniswami downplayed rumors of any new political developments, emphasizing that the meeting was solely about alliance coordination.
“My conversation with Amit Shah revolved around our collaboration for the Tamil Nadu elections. We discussed strategies for an effective campaign and enhancing our cooperation,” he asserted.
When asked about a possible partnership with a new party reportedly established by V.K. Sasikala, Palaniswami firmly denied any such talks.
“I did not engage in discussions about forming an alliance with Sasikala's new party,” he declared, quelling any speculations about internal changes within the AIADMK.
The former Chief Minister characterized the AIADMK’s alliance as “harmonious and energetic”, expressing confidence that it would pose a formidable challenge to the ruling DMK in the upcoming 2026 elections.
He stressed that the discussions with Amit Shah primarily focused on election management, campaign coordination, and strategic planning.
Palaniswami also criticized the DMK-Congress alliance, hinting at instability within the ruling coalition. “There is confusion in the DMK-Congress alliance. I am uncertain whether Congress will continue in that alliance,” he commented.
As Tamil Nadu gears up for a crucial electoral battle, the meeting between Palaniswami and Amit Shah is viewed as a significant step toward consolidating opposition forces, even as alliance dynamics and seat-sharing negotiations continue to shape the political landscape.
