Chennai, Oct 18 (NationPress) AIADMK general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami launched a special magazine named ‘Anna Vazhi Dravidam’ (Dravidian Movement in Anna’s Footsteps), which details the development and lasting impact of the Dravidian movement on Tamil Nadu’s political and social landscape.
This special printed edition was released to commemorate the 54th foundation day of the AIADMK, while the digital version was unveiled earlier in September to align with the birth anniversary of “Thanthai” Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, the founder of the Dravidar Kazhagam and a key ideological influence of the movement.
As per a party announcement, “Anna Vazhi Dravidam” honors the vision of Arignar C.N. Annadurai (Anna), whose principles of social justice, equality, rationalism, and self-respect reshaped Tamil society and motivated future leaders, including AIADMK founder M.G. Ramachandran and the late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
During the launch event, Palaniswami articulated that the Dravidian movement envisioned by Anna “was not just an ideology but a mission to elevate every segment of society.” He reiterated AIADMK’s dedication to implementing Anna’s values through governance that genuinely benefits the populace.
The magazine is designed as a medium for reflection and discussion, featuring essays and insights on the cultural roots, political journey, and current significance of Dravidian ideologies in molding Tamil Nadu’s democracy.
It also examines how the movement’s philosophical tenets have affected governance frameworks and social policies within the state. Party leaders characterized the publication as both a historical record and a reaffirmation of ideology.
“Through this magazine, the AIADMK aims to remind individuals that the core of Anna’s message revolves around service, social justice, and empowerment,” the statement indicated.
Thus, “Anna Vazhi Dravidam” serves as a tribute to the lasting Dravidian legacy, linking Anna’s vision with the leadership of MGR, Jayalalithaa, and now Edappadi K. Palaniswami, reaffirming AIADMK’s role as a custodian of Dravidian principles in the present-day Tamil Nadu political landscape.
