Ujjain, Feb 11 (NationPress) With plans for Simhastha 2028 reaching into the rural landscapes of Ujjain, the state government has resolved to incorporate gram panchayats to enhance the preparations.
The committee tasked with organizing the event has indicated that the participation of panchayats will be vital for ensuring the seamless flow of pilgrims during Simhastha.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed, "The preparations for Simhastha will extend into the rural territories of Ujjain district, thus making the role of panchayat representatives extremely significant."
He further emphasized that the Ujjain Janpad panchayat is particularly important for facilitating the movement of pilgrims during Simhastha, notably given the presence of an industrial zone in this area.
Panchayat representatives are urged to perform their responsibilities with diligence and empathy, while also ensuring that development initiatives in the Janpad regions are well-organized.
Chief Minister Yadav reiterated that the successful and orderly execution of Simhastha 2028 is the state's utmost priority.
The government has initiated preparations for this massive Hindu congregation, which occurs once every 12 years in Ujjain, with several significant projects launched over the past two months.
All 13 Akharas of sants and seers will sequentially partake in a holy dip, for which extensive arrangements are being made along the banks of the Shipra river.
The state anticipates that over 10 crore individuals will visit Ujjain.
Recently, the Akhil Bharatiya Pujari Mahasangh appealed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to prohibit VIPs from the Simhastha mela in Ujjain, drawing lessons from the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Mahesh Pujari, head of the Pujari Mahasangh, advised learning from the unfortunate stampede that occurred during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
He proposed dividing the area of the Shipra River where pilgrims will take their sacred dip into several sections.
Individual pathways and ghats should be designated for priests of all 13 Akharas.
The previous Simhastha mela took place from April 22 to May 21, 2016, celebrated on the banks of the Shipra, attracting millions from around the globe.
