New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) Following a chaotic initial week of the Monsoon Session filled with frequent interruptions, Parliament is preparing for a significant discussion regarding ‘Operation Sindoor’ and the recent Pahalgam terror attack on Monday.
The upcoming proceedings are anticipated to be a pivotal moment of the Monsoon Session, concentrating on issues of national security and foreign policy.
In the Lok Sabha, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will kick off the debate on Operation Sindoor, a vital military and diplomatic operation initiated in response to the Pahalgam terror incident. The dialogue is set to last for 16 hours, highlighting the seriousness of the topics at hand. He will be joined by Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who will articulate the government’s perspective on both the Pahalgam attack and the far-reaching consequences of Operation Sindoor.
Notable BJP MPs, including Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey, will also provide insights during the debate.
On the other side, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge are expected to lead the Opposition's response, alongside Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and several other key figures.
The Congress party has issued a directive requiring all its Lok Sabha MPs to be present over the next three days, emphasizing the significance it places on the debate.
The Monsoon Session commenced tumultuously, with the Opposition halting proceedings over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and other contentious matters.
However, on July 25, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju affirmed that the Opposition had consented to commence discussions on national security issues starting Monday in the Lok Sabha and continuing in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
