Kolkata, Sep 12 (NationPress) The former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee is considered the primary culprit in the numerous cases tied to the alleged West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) scam. The CBI has reaffirmed its commitment to uphold this stance throughout the trial proceedings, according to sources within the investigative agency.

Charge framing has already concluded at a special CBI court in Kolkata for several of these cases associated with the WBSSC scam, where 21 individuals, including Chatterjee, have been named as accused.

On Friday, the charge framing will be finalized at the same special court for additional cases related to the scam.

According to CBI sources, Chatterjee is labeled as the principal architect in all charge sheets and supplementary charge sheets submitted by the central agency concerning the broad spectrum of the alleged school-job scam.

This scam encompasses six major categories: the first three pertain to the appointments of secondary, higher secondary, and upper-primary teachers managed by WBSSC.

The fourth category involves the hiring of primary teachers by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE), while the fifth and sixth categories relate to non-teaching staff in Group-C and Group-D positions, also handled by WBSSC.

CBI sources stated, "While other accused individuals are linked to irregularities in one or two of the six categories, Chatterjee has been implicated in recruitment irregularities across all six categories. This is why he has been identified as the overarching mastermind of the entire alleged school-job scam."

Moreover, Chatterjee has been recognized as the main mastermind in nearly all charge sheets and supplementary charge sheets concerning the scam filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which has been conducting a parallel investigation into the school-job cases.

Among all the accused, Chatterjee has been in custody the longest due to his involvement in the school-job case.

He was apprehended in July 2022 at his home by ED officials, and later he was also recorded as arrested by the CBI.

Recently, he has been granted bail by various courts in nearly all cases against him, both by CBI and ED. However, he remains in judicial custody due to separate cases concerning irregularities in the recruitment of primary teachers appointed by the WBBPE.

Point of View
